INCHworm shoes have developed a shoe that increases in size as your child grows. Taken directly from their website – “Built right into INCHworm shoes is the iFit technology. The iFit technology allows you to GROW the size of the shoe with a simple push of the button. So eliminate unnecessary trips to the shoe store and provide your children with better fitting shoes that last up to three sizes longer. Inchworm shoes grow in half size increments. Just push the button on the side, and pull the toe of the shoe to adjust into the next size”.
Few sports shoe manufacturers cater for children i.e. they simply shrink an adult shoe, without taken into consideration the real-life forces applied. Perhaps adapting this technology would help towards solving the problem.
For more information see INCHworm.

If Vale flip flops were slightly cheaper they would revolutionise the flip flop industry. Go onto the site, choose a type of shoe, pay for them, receive a mould which you place your foot into, send it back and get a completely conforming design. A Brand New ISPO finalist, Vale will do extremely well going forward and I hope to purchase one myself in the near future.

According to SOLE: “the orthopaedic shape of SOLE Platinum Sandals provides a continuous contact point across the sole of your foot, moulding over time to provide just the right amount of support for you. This prevents aches and pains from developing, so you can wear SOLE flips all day long. Average flip flops have little or no shape to them, and therefore offer no support. If the arches of the feet are not supported they can collapse, causing a ripple effect of misalignment and pain that runs up through all the joints in your body. This misalignment also strains the plantar fascia, which is the connective tissue on the soles of your feet. When the plantar fascia is strained it results in sore feet, and can eventually lead to chronic pain”.
