NEW CLEATSKINS™ Golfskins™ Instantly Takes Golf Shoes to the Street

www.cleatskins.com

To meet the needs of active golfers, Cleatskins™ unveiled Golfskins™, a stylish accessory that quickly and conveniently takes golfers from the course to the clubhouse and beyond, without requiring a change of shoes.   Constructed of SKINTEK™ rubber, a unique formulation of compression molded rubber, Golfskins cups the bottom of golf shoes to extend the life of cleats, improve mobility and safety on asphalt, concrete and other hard surfaces, and provide a sealed barrier to keep dirt and grass out of the home and car. Golfskins join Cleatskins Sole, the company’s first product designed for cleats used in field sports, including baseball, football, rugby, soccer and others.

“When creating Golfskins, we took into consideration the specific needs of golfers, including style, durability and function,” said Rick Kay, president of Cleatskins.  “In addition to protecting expensive golf cleats and providing slip-resistance, Golfskins are also a great looking accessory that makes it easier than ever to move from the golf course to other activities.”

Like Cleatskins Sole, the distinctive design is a time-saving, practical and economical solution to and from the course.  Cleatskins SKINTEK material is machine washable, making them easy-to-care for and always looking new.

Golfskins for men come in a variety of sophisticated colors including black, white, taupe, dark brown and medium brown in sizes medium (6.5-8.5), large (9-11), XL (11.5-13.5) and XXL (14-16).  Golfskins for women come in black, white, taupe, red and blue violet in sizes small (5-7), medium (7.5-9.5) and large (10-12).  The suggested retail price for Golfskins is $32.95.

About Cleatskins
Launched in 2008, Cleatskins are revolutionary accessories designed to slip over cleated shoes and quickly and conveniently take athletes from the field to the street.  Both Cleatskins Sole and Golfskins are crafted from SKINTEK™ rubber, a flexible formulation of compression molded rubber, and are offered in a variety of bold colors. Developed by former college athlete and father of three, Rick Kay, with his wife Marianne, this must-have footwear innovation is available in youth and adult sizes and is designed to meet the needs of today’s pro athletes and sports-minded families active in soccer, baseball, football, golf and other outdoor sports.

Cleatskins are a very interesting and necessary product. The most applicable application in my mind is to cover athletics spikes when moving from the holding area to the track. This path is often gravel or concrete which can dull the end of the spike. Hopefully Cleatskins will create a version for that market soon.

Nike designs special forces footwear

Text taken from PSFK

"The military has always served as an incubator of groundbreaking technology and wild inventions (hello, the Internet). At the same time, private enterprise is uniquely equipped to hone expertise in very narrow fields. Nike, for example, continues to one-up itself with new and improved fabric development and shoe design - something the military probably doesn’t have the time or resources to accomplish.

So it doesn’t quite surprise us to see a collaboration between Nike and the US Military, the former supplying the latter with boots designed specifically for the Special Forces. The boots are super lightweight and have the Nike Free sole and extra-long laces to serve as makeshift tourniquets.

Geox's NET system

Net® System technology, developed by the Geox research laboratories and patented at international level, allows feet to breathe over its entire surface. The traditional rubber sole is replaced with an outside frame and a supporting net. This is combined with a special Geox membrane applied across the entire sole and this lets the foot breathe, while keeping out water, mud and any other external elements that might creep into the footwear.
